i havent submitted in a while... oopsies...hehe i was being lazy..XD
anyways this was inspired by the song 雨天- 孙燕姿
it was quite random...i was just listening to in in bed the other day and this picture came vividly in my head..O__o well exept she was standing on a bridge and it was raining... coz im too impatient and lazy i didnt draw the bridge...
the woman in the picture is a Chinese lady and she is from the Qing dynasty period in China (清朝 roughly in the 1600s,and her clothes are from that period as well...she is supposed to be a 格格 ( princess?...im not sure..O__o) anyways her clothes took me sooo long to draw and i had to do some research too ^^ anyways i tried my best to make the clothes more..chinesy?. and more you know..classic..but i dont know if i succeeded.////XD
anyways i worked hard (lazily) on this!! comments are welcome!

equipment used: paint for background colour, ink pen and pencil for lineart. photoshop for editing.
PWETTTYYY such beautiful detail XD
where did you get the reference? 0_o i never could find anything on olden chinese dresses before XD
are you ever gonna colour this? the bg makes a nice old look and the lighter part on top looks like light coming down, its really nice
Did you write the 雨 chara?? for the smudging on the the rain character!! XD
Wow!! This is definately your best piece yet, Zina!
It really does look like an authentic Chinese work of art from centuries ago. I think you are better than me at lineart now.... I don't think I could put so much detail into my linearts with my present skill. You've put so many well-placed folds into the dress... and managed to blend in the pattern so well with all the creases Maybe I just need to practice clothes more?
And you used a gradient! It works on so many levels on this piece -- As Cisiko points out, it acts as the sky, and gives a nice old look, and also the lightness encourages the viewer to focus on her face.
